This year we grew and carved our own pumpkins. They were pretty awesome, I have to admit! One rogue pumpkin grew into the park and was liberated by a passer-by. Also of note this month, Juan and Mary Lu have a new favorite song. Mary Lu is as inherently drawn to cool music as Juan is. Juan and Mary Lu are both in love with Glenn Phillips' "The Spirit of Shackleton." Juan knows about Shackleton due to his love of the Antarctic, so maybe his affinity for this song could have been predicted. But Mary Lu took to it to, both of them listening to John's ipod outside one afternoon, and both asking for that song over and over. Now they walk around singing it to themselves and one another. Mary Lu will often walk over and say, adamantly and earnestly, "I'm cold but I'm not scared!" Here are the October photos, leading up to Halloween.

Juan makes pancakes with us almost every Sunday. He makes his own batch, and cooks it all on his own.

Juan picks some of our broccoli. This is about all there was this year. Hopefully better luck next year.
