Home Ownership

So, because of a bunch of stuff that I won't go into, it's pretty important that we raise the value of our home in the next year and a half or so. Then we will want to have it reappraised. Instead of seeing this as a scary and daunting task, I've decided to blog about the process in order to make it feel more like an adventure and a challenge. We have some things going for us, the housing market here is seriously appreciating and home values have gone up 50-100% in the last three years. Homes values are reassessed every four years, this is the year, and they are supposed to go up 40-80% again (100-200% around the lake but, alas, that's not us). So, all of this seems like good news for the reappraisal, although this also means that property taxes will go up, as ours did (I like to think of it as our little March Surprise). Still, looking on the bright side, this whole thing can be an adventure. We've got a bunch of work, doing it all ourselves, I'll post photos as we go.
